Deadcades, a dark anthology published by "The Infernal Clock."

Deadcades was published in January 2019 and contains on horror story about each decade in the 20th century. My decade was the 1960's and my story, "Warm San Francisco Nights" takes place during the summer of love. The story is based on two of my friends who went to Haight Ashbury the summer after we were graduated from high school.  The book is available from Amazon.  Purchase Book

Stephanie Ellis, the editor,  did a brief interview with me and it's posted here.

hat was the worst and the best of your chosen decade?

The worst and best of the 1960s is difficult to choose. So much happened. The best could be the first man of the moon, the civil rights act in the USA, people standing up for themselves and what they believed in - the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature,) the Peace Corps, or the first heart transplant. I've got to go with the first man on the moon. And don’t forget the mass production of soap,  starting in the 1940s. Huge impact.

The worst of the sixties is a choice between two things (for most Americans anyway), the assassination of President John Kennedy or the war in Vietnam. I have to go with Vietnam. I lost so many friends.

What decade would you have liked to live in and why?

I lived in the two decades I like the best. The 1950s was a simple beautiful time when life when right and wrong were simple. The decade now is pretty damn good. Advances in medicine are the only reason I'm alive. If I had to go back to a party line telephone and black and white tv with three channels, I'd go postal.

For me personally, this decade has been wonderful. I survived cancer twice and I love the quality of life that technology provides.

In the whole span 1880-2020, many horrible things have happened. What do you think was the worst event overall? Why?

The worst event since 1880 is simple if you combine two closely related events. The World Wars. Nothing else is even close. The wars include the Holocaust, the Raids on England, the trench warfare, poison gasses, and the atomic bomb. Pretty bad stuff.

Do you think we have learned anything from the past or do you think there will always be monsters leading us into the dark?

Individuals have learned things from the past. Unfortunately the people who seemed to have learned the most are the monsters that lead us to dance ever closer to the edge of the precipice. We're like moths, always flying to close to the flame. There will always be people who'd drive the train to hell, if you let them be the engineer and there'll always be people who'll  be happy to climb on board.

Robert's Drabbles

A drabble is a story of exactly 100 words, no more and no less. ERBzine. com publishes one of my Edgar Rice Burroughs inspired drabbles along with a "today in ERB history" comment and relevant photograph every single day. As of today, 362 drabbles so far. Here's the link to the October 2018 drabbles where you will have access to the entire list. Robert's drabbles on Erbzine.

Chicken Soup For The Soul - Running For Good

On Tuesday, June 4, Chicken Soup For the Soul - Running For Good will be released. My short autobiographical story, "No Feeding Tube" is included. The book contains 101 stories about how running or walking improved or saved people's lives, besides the fact that runners live 10 years longer on average. The book will be available at pretty much every book store in America.
