250 consecutive running days.

December 25, 2019 and today marks consecutive running day #250 and 1050 miles. I ran at seven in a light rain on this Christmas morning. I didn't see another person or even a moving car. Not a creature was stirring.

Running Streak at 225 days

Day 225 today without a missing a single day. Ran in snow twice this week and blowing rain once. Felt like a postman, neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night. Something like that anyway. 900+ miles in 225 consecutive days. Not all that bad for age 71,

Two new running rules. First, if you wait for perfect conditions, you'll never get anything done. Second, runners don't get snow days.

200 Day running streak and it's raining.

I woke up today and it was pouring rain. It was 38% degrees. What was I going to do.

This was day 200 in my consecutive streak. Of course I ran.

I ran today in the cold rain with water running in the gutters. Wore old shoes, old hat, running jacket, shorts, tights, and gloves held together by red duct tape. No point in trying to look good, it's raining. No phone and no IPod - it's raining. Splish splash!

Two lessons: It's all the same after the first five minutes and you don't melt.

Running Into Trouble

197th day in a row to run. Normally, I'd wait until day 200 to post. (I will.) Today I ran in my first organized race in 4 years. Won my age group, 70+. I encourage everyone to run, and of course to buy my book, Running Into Trouble. Buy Running Into Trouble

The Big Book of Blasphemy

My story, "Oven of the Flaming God" is included int "The Big Book of Blasphemy," totaling over 125,000 words! The book is available for pre-order on the Necro Publications website. Order Here. It will be released in a couple of weeks.
My post story is about religion after the apocalypse. Churches are located in abandoned pizza restaurants. Horror and humor and definitely irreverent. Just be carefully if you order an extra large with everything.

Back at the Keyboard

Finally writing again after surviving the first three weeks of October. Ballooning thirteen days out of the first twenty-three and traveling five more doesn't give a person time to focus on much else.

I read somewhere that once you do something eighteen days in a row, it becomes a habit. I think it works the other way. Once you don't do something for that long, not doing it becomes a habit.

In any event, I wrote two short stories that I owed publishers this week. "It Gets In Your Blood" is about an alien invasion of an open pit copper mine in South America. Thanks to
Delores Deloris McConnell, Judy Lupton Mowdy, Ken King, Robin Lupton and several others for the idea storm that became this story. Should see print around the first of the year.

The second short story, "A is for Ant," is an apocalyptic tale about the end of civilization caused by the proliferation of plastic waste. It will appear next spring - assuming my story premise doesn't come true.
